The Family Mediators Association is a registered charity (No. 1002971) and Company Limited by Guarantee. They are governed by a Board of Trustees who are elected by our members. FMA currently have 350+ members.
The FMA was founded in 1988 by a group of six family lawyers and family therapists in order to offer family mediation to private clients outside the court system. Prior to this, mediation had been available only in a limited number of circumstances to clients within the court systems. This progressive initiative greatly advanced the development of family mediation and to this day, the FMA remains at the vanguard. Many of our mediators are contracted to the Legal Services Commission to provide mediation for publicly funded clients.
The FMA provides training, supervision and other services to its members. We take standards and regulation seriously and work to a Code of Practice. We have a network of Professional Practice Consultants who are able to advise our mediators, and who have their own training requirements. The FMA is a lead body of the Family Mediation Council (FMC) which co-ordinates regulation and develops common standards.

Violence Risk Assessment (VRTW)
violenceriskassessment.com
Assessing and managing the risk of violence is a core task of professionals working in mental health and criminal justice services.
Psychologists, psychiatrists, police, prison staff, managers, nurses, social workers, probation officers are just some of the professions involved in minimising risk of harm. Violence risk assessment and management occupies a central role in legislation and features in the Care Programme Approach, Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements, and Dangerous Offender Legislation. Courts, tribunals and hearings are therefore increasingly requesting opinions on risk.
Similarly, health and criminal justice services are increasingly articulating and governing risk assessment policy and procedure.
Protect International
protect-international.com
Protect International is an internationally recognized leader in helping organizations build respectful workplaces – where people treat each other with dignity and civility, feel safe and secure, and collaborate productively.
Anywhere people live or work together, tensions arise. Conflict between people is natural, and can even be healthy. But it can also be harmful. When it goes on too long or becomes heated, people may start to behave badly toward each other. Working together may become unpleasant or even impossible. People may even engage in behaviour that threatens the health and safety of others.
From a practical perspective, harmful conflict impairs an organization’s ability to function effectively. From a humanitarian perspective, harmful conflict takes a toll on an organization’s people. From a legal perspective, every organization has duties to take reasonable steps to protect its people from harmful conflict.
That’s where Protect International comes in. We help organizations do the best for their people and, in return, get the best out of their people.
Our strength lies in our standardized, evidence-based and integrated programs coupled with our passionate experts drawn from a wide range of professions including employee relations, law, forensic psychology, media, restorative justice, social policy, policing and education.
We offer a full range of integrated products to help prevent conflict, repair relationships that have been harmed by conflict, and protect people whose health and safety are threatened by conflict. Organizations that use our products experience increased productivity and profitability while reducing operational costs and risks.
